Hello! I’m Ms. Jackie and I am a Montessori educator with 20 years of teaching experience. My joy is introducing fine arts, folk art, and traditional crafts to young people. I hope to instill in them a love of art from all over the world. My goal is to have the children recognize art and know all about the artist who created the piece by making the art relatable to the child.
I am offering art classes as an after school option or during the day as part of your school curriculum.

Sessions
I am a firm believer in process over product, so this is not a draw-along or a “teacher drawing on the canvas” class. This is a child centered, creative class full of exploration in all types of mediums.
As a Montessori educator, I have created several classes geared toward Children’s House and Lower Elementary curriculum. The classes not only introduce children to art and artists, but teaches them the fundamentals of art, beginning with the Elements of Art. Each Session will have introductory lessons in the following:
- The Elements of Art: These include: color, line, shape, value, form, texture, and space.
- The Principles of Design: Movement, Unity, Rhythm, Balance, Pattern, Contrast, Emphasis.
- Color Mixing
My lessons are easy to incorporate into continent study, an extension to color box 1 and 2, language (descriptive words, sequencing) , fine motor, practical life, and even the peace corner (art is a great way to regulate those big feelings).

The Masters: Beyond the Basics.
This series of classes will introduce your child to famous artists that they often see in the world around them. See sample curriculum below.

Sample Curriculum of The Masters: Beyond the Basics
This series of classes will not only introduce your child to famous artists that they see in the world around them, it will allow them to explore the life of the artist, their family and their journey to becoming an artist. We will study several paintings and talk about the work. We will discuss:
- What is the artist trying to tell us?
- How do paintings make us feel and why do we feel it?
- What are the movements of the lines telling us?
- Why do you think the artist used the specific colors?
The students will then recreate a master work for each artist in their own way – no copies or draw-alongs – this is 100% child produced art!

Parent Feedback
“You created such a fun, unique, engaging art class and he came home energized and excited about what he was learning. You’re amazing!!!!!”
“Ms. Jackie’s art class was incredibly thoughtful and well put together. Ms. Jackie had themes for the week, introduced the kids to classic art elements, and had engaging history lessons about artists and time periods. The kids started with Monet, and for months “Claude Monet” has been a topic of conversation and Owen has been dropping art facts and educating our entire family. It amazed me how Ms. Jackie was able to guide the kids to create truly beautiful and advanced art. They made a ballerina sculpture based on Degas, painted the night sky, and the most special for our family was a beach scene. Ms. Jackie spent her nights and weekends sketching a picture I sent of Jack and Owen at the beach, and Owen got to paint something meaningful to our whole family. This was more than an art class. Ms. Jackie has put so much thought and care into each lesson, and it shows. Owen is so excited to show anyone who comes to our house his paintings, his confidence in his art work has improved, and he’s referencing artistic masters when he’s coloring now. This class felt like a tailored experience and it’s the best class either of my kids have participated in.”

Amelia adored the class so much that last night when we were reading before bedtime, she wanted to go through the binder you sent home and read about artists. You’ve done an incredible job with cultivating the interest and love of art. Wish this class was year round but I know that’s more content to prep. I love all the art and it’s proudly hanging in her room!

The afterschool art program was truly a value-added experience at TMA! Every Thursday Ella was excited to go to school and learn about a new artist. It was a delight to hear about, and really sparked interest in learning more about artists in general. The projects generated weekly brought our daughter pride to share, and she happily retold the steps made to create them! We framed the canvas art and the family beach picture will also be treasured for years to come (that was Rob’s favorite! 🙂 ) Simply put, the effort into the process made the ultimate product worth keeping. Moreover, our daughter learned more about her talents as an artist and appreciation for different mediums. The program provided a great foundation on which to build on art appreciation moving forward, and having seen how much our oldest has grown as an artist throughout the years, we know these moments in the early years matter. We are so thankful Ella had the opportunity to participate, and we hope you will be able to offer the program again in the future!
Thank you again for bringing the program to TMA, and for all the love and care you provide to all the children. You are so special!”

“This art class allowed us to continue to emphasize Ruby’s development in Art. We have been searching for an afterschool Art program, which can be difficult with scheduling and not wanting to go. Having a class like this at school removes those barriers. Additionally, we are excited to see the work she brings home. I love having her art on the wall and giving it away to grandparents. I highly encourage TMA to continue this focus and would gladly pay for more classes. It also helps TMA differentiate itself from other schools”

I was so impressed by the artist series program that was offered by Ms. Jackie at TMA. My daughter came home from class each week talking about the fun project work and what new materials she got to play with. What I was not expecting was how exceptional the work was going to be! We got a special frame where we can swap out all the artwork my daughter brings home now 🙂 Fun story: My daughter can’t read just yet, but when we were walking through a Barnes and Noble, my daughter was able to correctly identify artists based on pictures of their work on the cover of books. I was so impressed that the class was not only fun, but she learned a lot of art history. Would definitely be interested in seeing more of the series, and I know there were other parents that would be interested in having their child participate if there was space.

The art class Ms. Jackie led was by far the best extracurricular class Eloise has ever taken. Each week she came home talking about a new artist and proudly displayed her work. How Jackie set up the curriculum throughout the semester was so thoughtful. Each art project took time and patience for the kids to complete, and I ended up framing all of them. Hopefully Ms. Jackie will be able to continue this class next year (and if I can convince her), over the summer too!
